Persepolis has a different state in old photos than it does today.
173 years ago, “Luigi Pesche”, an Italian military officer who had a hand in photography, went to Fars to record one of the first series of photographs of Persepolis in history. In the photos of Pesha, Persepolis is in a different state. It is years after these photos that archaeologists go to this valuable ancient area and slowly pull it out from under the soil.
Luigi Pesha had traveled to Iran during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah and received the title of photographer from this king.
