The Tian Tan Buddha, also known as the Big Buddha, is one of the largest Buddha statues in the world located on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. This statue, which was built in 1993, has a height of 34 meters and a weight of 250 tons, and represents the Buddha sitting on a lotus. The Tian Tan Big Buddha statue is made of bronze and depicts the calm and thoughtful face of the Buddha with exemplary elegance. Around this huge statue, there are 6 smaller statues that represent the 6 Buddhist qualities including generosity, morality, patience, passion, concentration and wisdom.
Tian Tan Big Buddha is not only a major tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world, but also a sacred place for Buddhists. This statue is located near Po Lin Monastery, which is one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in Hong Kong.
