Seven illegal diggers were arrested in Kurdistan.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Kurdistan announced the arrest of illegal diggers of historical monuments in Dehgolan city.
Mansour Mehrzad said:
According to a public report to Dehgolan Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department about unauthorized digging in a private house, after obtaining permission from the judicial system, the forces of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit, accompanied by the 11th police station of this city, attended the place where the crime was reported.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Kurdistan stated that 7 people with known native and non-native identities were identified and arrested.
These people had dug a hole with a depth of 2 meters and a diameter of 2 meters and then a tunnel with a length of 10 meters in order to discover historical and ancient objects. One pickaxe, 3 dirt buckets, two sets of clothes for toxic gases and the respective masks were seized from the accused. The judicial case of the arrested persons has been filed and this issue is being followed up through the legal authorities.
