Jame Mosque Street of Yazd, one of the most famous historical streets of this city, can be seen in two views with a gap of several decades.
“Baroness Marie de Schouten”, an Austrian-Belgian photographer and documentary maker, traveled to Iran in the 1920s and 1930s, and after meeting Arthur Pope, she produced valuable documentary images and films from Iran of that period.
The picture on the left of Jame Mosque Street in Yazd with a view of this valuable historic mosque was probably taken by Baroness Marie de Choten around the 1930s, and the picture on the right shows the current state of this street and the view of this mosque. In the historical image recorded by Marie de Choten, the street can be seen as dirt and undergoing changes, other historical images from this era also show the street leading to the Jame Mosque in Yazd city as dirt.
Jame Mosque of Yazd is registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the historical structure of Yazd city.
