The dome of Urmia Jame Mosque will be restored after 20 years.

After more than 20 years, the dome of Urmia Jame Mosque is being restored under the supervision of the experts of this general department.

The dome of the Jame Mosque of Urmia, which belongs to the Seljuk period, was last restored in the early 80s, and currently, due to the damage and wear and tear of the internal and external parts of the dome, its restoration measures are on the agenda. In this regard, in the outer shell of the dome of the mosque, the worn-out bricks, straps, and connections of the structure were dismantled and repaired, and currently, scaffolding with a height of 25 meters has been implemented in the lower part of the dome, until the internal wear and tear has also been dismantled, and the decorations in the stem and under the dome have been organized. and be repaired according to technical principles.
He continued by stating that by carrying out these restorations, he intends to prevent the destruction process of this building.
More than 15 billion rials have been allocated for the renovation of the dome and it is expected that this project will be completed in two months if the conditions are met. In the future, we intend to carry out dusting and restoration measures in the mosque’s altar section as well.
