The knowledge of glassmaking in the style of thousands of flowers in the 8th century was forgotten, and later in the 19th century, this technique was revived.
The plaques discovered in Andriake show flowers of different colors and geometric shapes, the first discovery of such abundant examples in Turkey. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Millfury covers (thousand flowers) discovered in Andriake are so valuable and important that they can be considered as one of the most important finds in Turkey this year.
Archaeologists believe that these plaques were used to decorate the walls in the customs area of the ancient port. Also, in these excavations, archaeologists discovered glass roses as well as the remains of glass frames.
