One thousand and 956 historical objects were discovered from smugglers at Imam Airport in Tehran.
The commander of the protection unit of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts announced the discovery of 1,956 objects belonging to different historical periods from the luggage of smugglers in Tehran.
Sardar Hassan Mehri, commander of the country’s cultural heritage protection unit, said:
Following the investigation of the purchase and sale of historical objects by 2 international smugglers in Tehran and after verifying the authenticity of the news, the issue was immediately put on the agenda of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit.
He added:
The officers of the cultural heritage protection unit formed an elite team and with the coordination of the judicial authority and the cooperation of the airport police, went to the Imam Khomeini (RA) airport and while observing the Sharia and legal standards in inspecting the luggage and belongings of the smugglers, they found 1,956 stone beads. Precious and semi-precious items made of agate, glass paste, etc. were discovered and confiscated.
Sardar Mehri stated:
According to the opinion of cultural heritage experts, the discovered objects have historical value and their age was estimated to be related to different historical periods.
