The latest findings from Meta’s (formerly Facebook) plan to add Non-Featured Tokens (NFTs) to Instagram indicate that the social network plans to test support for NFTs soon. Apparently, the implementation of this plan is supposed to be keyed with four well-known blockchain networks, including Ethereum.
According to CoinDesk, NFTs based on popular blockchain networks are going to be added to the social network Instagram soon, and Meta may publish a statement about the trial launch of this section on Monday of this week.
This large social network, which is a subset of Meta, apparently plans to initially support NFTs based on the Ethereum blockchain, Solana, Polygon, and Flow. A major part of the trading of non-monogamous tokens is done in these networks, and among them, the Ethereum network and Bored Ape Yacht Club are the leaders with a higher market value than others.
This new Instagram feature is going to be tested with a small group of NFT fans in America. In addition, it is not yet clear whether Instagram will start supporting all four mentioned networks at the very beginning of the work and with the launch of this section.
In this section, Instagram plans to support widely used wallets in the digital currency space, such as Metamask; In this way, by connecting their wallet to their user account, users prove that they own one or more specific NFTs, and then they will be able to display these NFTs in their user account (in the form of posts or stories) and their original creators. Tag on the image.
CoinDesk’s research shows that Instagram, unlike Twitter, does not intend to charge its users for posting or sharing images related to non-like tokens. It should be noted that the use of NFTs in the Twitter account image is only possible for those who have purchased a special subscription to this social network, or Twitter Blue; So, the official publication of NFTs images on Twitter is somehow costly for users.
The Meta team’s decision to add NFTs to Instagram is likely to have a huge impact on the cultural aspects of the space and expose non-heterotokens to new people. Instagram currently has over 1 billion monthly active users, and many of its users use the platform to market and showcase their artwork.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said earlier in March that NFTs would be added to Instagram in the near future, without giving specific details.
As reported by the Financial Times a few days ago, Meta wants to test the NFTs section of Instagram while adding the possibility to create non-similar tokens, as well as plans to add a feature to Facebook groups that will use it. It is possible to consider the condition of membership in different groups to have a specific NFT for that group.
