Chinese researchers succeeded in converting human thoughts into voice speech

Chinese researchers claimed to have developed a kind of mind-reading machine. What can turn the thoughts of the mind into voice speech.

According to Tekna technology and technology news service, the researchers in this study used signs of brain and nerve activity. In this way, they were able to produce artificial speech, which is also called speech synthesis. In this innovation, a method called electrocorticography is used. In this method, brain signals can be received directly from the cerebral cortex by means of electrodes implanted in the brain.

The researchers say about this method: In general, the melodious syllable can be divided into tone sound and independent base. Therefore, we hypothesized that these two could be decoded separately from neural activity. Then, instead, the melodious speech was decoded only by the tone combination and then the base syllable was added to it.

In the conducted experiments, the researchers tried to strengthen the production and identification of tone and melody by using neural activity detection algorithms. In this study, a modular neural network model was designed in which it is possible to decode the basic tone and syllable in parallel. Finally, the speech will be created by combining the outputs of the tone and syllable modules.
