Vitalik Buterin, the creator and co-founder of Ethereum, again became a victim of fraudsters using deepfake technology.
Experts from security firm CertiK have released a new Deepfake video that shows Butrin promoting a phishing website designed to drain users' wallets. This is another episode in a trend whereby the fame of famous people is exploited to steal users' funds.
The misuse of deepfake technology has increased alarmingly in the crypto community. In these advanced digital spoofs, fraudsters use artificial intelligence technology to create highly convincing fake videos or audio recordings for their malicious purposes.
This is not the first time cybercriminals have exploited Vitalik Buterin's influence. Earlier, there was a deepfake from the creator of Ethereum promoting the new memecoin which was a scam.

Another notable case was the former CEO of MicroStrategy, Michael Silver, whose image was used in fake videos on hijacked YouTube channels to promote fake Bitcoin giveaways. Similarly, a fake video of FTX founder and former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried was released to falsely compensate users after the exchange went bankrupt.
Such incidents underscore the critical need for increased awareness and vigilance among the crypto community to identify and prevent falling victim to such scams.
