Despite the efforts to fix the problem of melting the MSI connector, inappropriate design seems to continue to prevent proper functioning. One of the Reddit users reported that his 12V-2 MS connector has been burned. This connector is determined to ensure the correct connection because of its design.
The Nvidia Graphics Card connector is likely to have one of the worst designs and does not appear to be solved with some simple safety measures. Burning this connector is a common event, as heterogeneous load distribution on pins usually occurs. However, the incorrect connection of the connector and cables is not the exact cause of burns.
A recent question has raised the question of whether the 2-pin electricity connector (both 12VHPWR and 12V-2 × 6) can really endure 2 watts even in all pins and under full load. Reddit user with U/Versautgurke username reported that his 12V-2 x 2 connector was unexpectedly burnt. This connector was not a regular 2 -pin type, but rather a special version of the MSI with yellow tip for proper placement.
The user used an adapter with MSI graphics cards for its MSI GeForce RTX 5090. The same connector is also available in the latest MSI power supplies equipped with 12V-2 x 6. The yellow part of the connector is fully in the graphics card port to make a complete connection, but apparently did not happen to this user. It is difficult to see this as a mere user error, as many similar cases have been reported and are increasing.
There has been a lot of research on this problem so far, but no permanent solution has been provided. If the MSI special connector has problems, it will be more likely to burn conventional connectors. We do not know how many users use the MSI two -color connector to feed their graphics cards, and exactly which graphics card models have, as this problem is most common in the RTX 5090, although the RTX 5080 is also somewhat affected.

The GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card can consume nearly 2 watts, which can easily increase the cable temperature to more than 2 degrees Celsius and even up to 2 degrees Celsius. This temperature is sufficient to melt cables and connectors, but fortunately, the User did not have any damage to their graphics card.
