Despite previous signs that the Samsung SMS app is in favor of Google Messiaz, Samsung is actively developing new features for its native messenger app.
New features that are to be added to the Samsung SMS program have been discovered by reviewing the APK file. These include a birthday reminder, a living location sharing, an emoji or sticker reaction, and more. The exact timing of these new features is still unclear.
The future for Samsung’s messengers seemed dark when the Korean technology giant began to encourage users to migrate to Google last year. This was a serious sign that the company may have been out of the field of messaging. Although Samsung did not fully ignore it, it removed the Samsung Messenger app from the Google Play Store. Samsung has decided to install Google Message as the only text messaging app on its new phones by default.

It was enough for many to think that Samsung’s messenger’s life was close. However, Samsung does not appear to be ready to abandon its messaging service. The company has big applications for its messenger app, and now these programs are no longer a secret thanks to the APK file review.
New features that Samsung is developing for its messenger
The Samsung app is not an extraordinary thing. In fact, the company has been inspired by Google Masjid to improve its text messaging app. One of these features is birth reminder. As you know, the birth reminder feature on Google Masjid informs users until the birth of one of their stored audiences is close to him. This feature now appears in a new version of the Samsung Messenger app that has been seen in the One UI 8.
Another inspiration from Google Message that Samsung is working on is the support for living location sharing. This feature allows you to share your location with your audience. There will also be an option to stop positioning at any moment and reject location sharing invitation.
While living location sharing is very useful, the codes showed that this feature may be connected to the Samsung Find app and requires logging in to Samsung. This feature is not yet available on Google Masjid because the company based in Mantin View is still working on it.

Samsung also plans to expand the NOW BRIEF feature to alert users of suspicious, destructive or blocked messages. This feature will probably work when Samsung’s messenger is used as a default app. In any case, such messages should not be answered, but for other messages, you may be able to make the conversation more attractive using emoji and sticker reactions. The Google Message app supports emoji and sticker reaction, and Samsung is now trying to add these features to its messenger app.
Unfortunately, it is still unclear when these features will be available to users. But since these features have been found in the new version of the Samsung Messenger app in the One UI 8, we may see them release in one of the public beta versions expected to be released this month.
