Referring to the consequences of the high consumption of fossil fuels, quoted the Institute for Citation and Monitoring of Science and Technology of the Islamic World (ISC), Mohammad Mehdi Alavian-Mehr, as the head of this institute, said: the widespread use of fossil fuels by vehicles and the severe pollution caused by it, along with the reduction of energy resources, has caused global attention to be directed towards clean energy and the development of electric vehicles.
Emphasizing the continuation of environmental challenges, he stated: air pollution, high daily consumption of gasoline, low quality and wear and tear of cars reveal the necessity of developing and using electric cars more than ever.
Alavian Mehr stated: The Islamic Republic of Iran, with the aim of maintaining its political, cultural, economic and scientific independence, is taking steps towards achieving electric vehicle technology. National authority depends on attention to science and technology, which is not limited to the production of knowledge, but must be used in daily life and country management. According to the national plans being compiled, there is a special focus on the development and use of electric vehicle technology, and it is expected that Iran’s position in the use of these technologies will improve.
According to the mentioned materials, it is very important to review and analyze the scientific position of electric vehicle technologies in the prestigious global rankings.
Alavian Mehr said: Among the missions of the ISC Institute is the monitoring of the state of the country’s scientific productions in various fields. For example, in the field of technologies related to electric vehicle engines, this institute has examined the state of Iran’s scientific production in the period from 2005 to 2024 based on the data indexed in the “WebOscience” database and compared it with other leading Islamic and global countries.

He pointed out: According to the data of the Web of Science database, in the period from 2005 to 2024, in terms of the number of scientific products, Iran has taken the fourth place in the world and the first place among the countries of the Islamic world in the technology of “switched reluctance motors” and has performed better in this technology than other countries of the Islamic world. Also, the rank of the Islamic Republic of Iran in brushless direct current motor technology is the 6th in the world and the first rank among the countries of the Islamic world. Iran ranks 10th in three-phase induction motor technology and 11th in series direct current motor and permanent magnet synchronous motor technologies.
