According to Mehr reporter, the 7th meeting of the BRICS working group in the field of research infrastructures and large-scale scientific projects, with the presence of officials from Iran, Russia, South Africa and Brazil, started today, December 17, at the Azadi Hotel in Tehran.
The focus of this meeting in Tehran will be on issues such as the development of joint research cooperation among BRICS member countries, helping to advance the mechanisms of defining and financing large scientific projects, promoting the role of research infrastructure as an engine of innovation, sustainable development and scientific diplomacy.
The BRICS Working Group on Research Infrastructures and Scientific Macro-Projects was established in 2015 during the 3rd meeting of BRICS Ministers of Science, Technology and Innovation. The key objectives of this working group include promoting cooperation in large-scale research infrastructure, supporting initiatives that lead to the efficient use, development and management of large-scale scientific projects, as well as creating a dynamic environment for the development of research infrastructure among BRICS countries.
The BRICS Working Group on research infrastructure and macro-scientific projects provides opportunities for those fundamental and applied researches that lead to finding solutions to the common challenges of BRICS and the world.
This working group is also responsible for the creation of the digital platform “BRICS GRAIN Advanced Research Infrastructure Network”, which provides information on more than 30 research infrastructures in the BRICS countries in the five fields of energy, nanotechnology, biology, fundamental physics and astronomy. In general, facilitating the sharing of data, access to laboratories and making it a vital part of the BRICS working group’s efforts to promote cooperation among member countries is considered the main objective of this platform.
This event, which is organized under the initiative, management and leadership of the Presidential Development and Development Cooperation Center as the country’s BRICS contact point in the field of technology and innovation, with the cooperation of the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Development Organization of the President’s Deputy for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, will continue until tomorrow, December 18.
