Scientists are working on a new research that will make it possible to regenerate teeth and grow them back.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, many animals, including sharks and crocodiles, experience regrowth of teeth many times during their lifetime. While in humans, after the growth of 32 permanent teeth, it is not possible to grow new teeth.
A team of Japanese scientists is one step closer to regrowing teeth in humans by developing a new drug. The new clinical trial planned by these scientists for next year will be conducted with the aim of treating teething patients. In this genetic disease, a person loses his teeth. Also, if they are successful, they plan to make this treatment publicly available to other people by 2030.
Katsu Takahashi, one of the senior researchers of this study, says: This new idea can be considered the dream of every dentist. My studies in this field have started since I was an undergraduate student. Since then, I have believed that this would happen. In this study, an antibody was identified that stimulated the growth of teeth in mice with teething disease. According to researchers, this antibody works together with other proteins to suppress tooth growth. On the other hand, by suppressing this antibody, morphogenic protein signaling can be obtained, which causes teeth to grow again.
