According to Mehr Reporter, a press conference was held today with the participation of Ali Mohammad Soltani, the head of the foundation and reporters in the field of science and technology. The meeting was held to explain the activities carried out last year and outline the programs ahead in year 6.
At the beginning of his remarks, Soltani, while congratulating Teacher’s Day and commemorating the anniversary of Imam Reza (AS), emphasized the key role of teachers in educating the next generation and shaping the future of the country through research.
Referring to the renaming of the institution from the Fund for Researchers and Technologists to the National Science Foundation of Iran, he described the first year of the formal year of the Foundation with a new mission and structure, stating: “Purpose change was not our goal; Rather, the redesign of the Foundation’s policies and support structure in a way that is more effective and agility for the scientific and public community has been put on the agenda.
The head of the Iranian Science Foundation also cited these two concepts, referring to the slogan of the Foundation for Effective and Agile: Effectiveness means focusing on supporting research that has a tangible social and economic impact on the community, and agility means eliminating excessive bureaucracy, facilitating the process.
He described investment in research as one of the main tools of development and likened it to “walnut tree planting”, which, although it is time -consuming, will bring significant and lasting fruits in the long run.
The head of the National Foundation of Science of Iran categorized the foundation’s missions into two main axes “Supporting Research” and “Promoting Science”.
Regarding the research department, he pointed to two key approaches: the authority and scientific development of the country, in this axis, the identification of scientific elites and the granting of special grenades (research seats, overwhelming glands and multidisciplinary clusters) is pursued with the aim of growing Iranian scientific authority internationally. Especially in areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum, cognitive science, advanced materials and biotechnology, it is attempted to reduce the country’s scientific gap with the boundaries of global knowledge by holding research calls. Problem -oriented research has also been organized in three levels of micro, middle and macro issues.
He continued: For small issues, interaction with knowledge -based companies is through needs. For middle -aged issues, a program called “Supporting University Missionism” is defined in which universities are responsible for resolving a regional problem. At the level of major issues, the “problem -solving and guidance centers” or “Mehr” are formed to pursue and resolve the strategic issues of the country over a five -year period.
In another part of his remarks, Soltani, referring to the Foundation’s support programs in year 2, stated: 2 % of the support is provided continuously throughout the year and 2 % through subject calls.
He added that the ceiling for supporting continuous research projects will increase to 5 million tomans this year and if international cooperation will be added 5 million tomans. The ceiling for support projects is also set up to $ 1.5 billion.
He further noted: Last year, the National Science Foundation of Iran has published about 5 calls, which received a remarkable welcome to the scientific community. The registration of more than 5 research projects in the Foundation System in Year 2 was the highest number of registered in the six -year history of this institution. Of these, 5 approved and approved plans have reached more than 2 billion tomans.
The head of the National Foundation of Science of Iran, emphasizing the continuation of the policy of effectiveness and agility in year 2, promised that support would continue with more accurate targeting and scientific prioritization so that the country’s research would be further linked to the real needs of society and the national economy.
