According to RCO News Agency, As the World Astronomical Week arrives, Engineer Massoud Atiqi, Director of the Iranian Amateur Astronomical Association in an interview with ISNA, Condolences on the occasion of the bitter incident of the martyr Raja’i dock of Bandar Abbas, describing the history and importance of this global occasion.

According to him, the tradition of telescopes to the people, which began five years ago, has become an international movement today, and Iran is actively involved in extensive and popular programs in the scientific event.

Atiqi, referring to World Astronomy Day based on the first month of the month, addressed the programs of the Iranian Amateur Astronomical Association this year; Programs include attending charities to the big Tehran market and commemorating the country’s lasting astronomical figures such as Alinoush Tarian. He also announced the “Tamna” plan to equip deprived astronomical centers and expressed hope that with the help of the benefactors, an effective step in promoting astronomical science would be taken.

Engineer Massoud Atiqi, director of the Iranian Amateur Astronomical Association, said in an interview with ISNA: 52 years ago a person named Doug Berger took his telescope to the streets, with the aim of bringing the telescopes to the public on a special day instead of people going to the observatory and sky.

He added: “By joining different states in the United States, this event first became a domestic move and then by joining different countries, becoming a major international step, and today we are witnessing World Astronomy Day around the world, including our country.”

Atiqi said: Since 2001, the Iranian Amateur Astronomical Association in accordance with the international calendar of this event has implemented the publication of astronomy heavenly knowledge in the Bahman Cultural Center, and then this activity has been broader in Tehran and other parts of the country.

The director of the Iranian Amateur Astronomical Association noted: Fortunately, the Iranian Amateur Astronomical Association’s proposal to have a day called National Astronomy Day in the country’s calendar since the beginning of the solar decade; In 2022, which was World of Basic Sciences, it was named as the day of the “Basic Science” and “National Day of Astronomy” on the occasion of the anniversary of the celebration of Aboureihan exterior of the famous Iranian astronomer.

According to him, despite the many hosts of the history of this land, this national occasion was empty in the Iranian calendar, which has been naming a day called the National Astronomy Day since 1401.

Atiqi said that during the last 25 years, the Iranian Amateur Astronomy Association has promoted astronomical knowledge on the day and world of astronomy in public environments and centers.

Determination of World Astronomy Day

The director of the Iranian Amateur Astronomical Association stated that every year World Astronomy Day is determined in a specific way, he explained: From the middle of April to the middle of May, on Saturday, close to the first month of the month, it is selected as World Astronomy Day, and since the moon has been paid attention to and changes the shape of the moon.

He emphasized: The reason for the moon’s attention to such a day was that the moon, as a neighbor of the Earth, is at the shortest distance from the Earth, and from within the telescope, even small amateur telescopes is particularly attractive to public observation.

Atiqi added: World Astronomy Week will also be determined from Monday before World Astronomy Day to Sunday. Obviously, this year, the World Astronomy Week is set this year on Saturday, May 13, 2010, 2010, from Monday, May 8th to Sunday, May 14th.

The director of the Iranian Amateur Astronomical Association expressed hope that all the country’s astronomical associations and groups would have an opportunity for people to bring telescopes to the public instead of going to the observatory so that people could become more familiar with this knowledge, especially young people and adolescents.
