NASA is designing a new lunar rover for Artemis astronauts. In the construction of this rover, it will be inspired by cars such as golf cars and karting cars.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, NASA is designing and planning a lunar roving surface or horse LTV that can transport two astronauts on the surface of the moon. Also, this device will be able to perform some tests semi-automatically. According to NASA, the new vehicle, like the Endurance and Curiosity rovers, can collect samples and analyze them remotely.
Currently, NASA has sent a request to private companies to send their works for this design for use in future Artemis missions to this space agency.
It is stated in the NASA contract that all designers must provide it as part of their contract as part of the operation, similar to NASA’s approach in the design of the Dragon capsule related to SpaceX and the commercial crew program of this company. NASA plans to have LTV in autonomous operation. For this reason, it will be equipped with scientific instruments, a robotic arm and other exploration tools.
NASA sent an unmanned Orion capsule into our orbit in November 2022 on the Artemis One mission. This space agency plans to carry out this approach with astronauts in the Artemis 2 mission in 2024.
