Researchers have developed edible endoscopic capsules that can film the digestive tract after eating. These capsules were developed before this but were not used much due to performance limitations. They needed a gravity system and a digestive system to move. But now capsules with the ability to control their accounts have taken them.
According to Tekna Technology and Technology News Service, researchers from the School of Medicine and Health Sciences from George Washington University have invented a new video capsule that can eliminate the limitations of the previous capsule with the possibility of remote control.
The new capsule named NaviCam is able to move through the entire digestive system in a controlled manner. Then take pictures of the problem areas. This capsule will be controlled using an external magnet and special joysticks.
“Traditional endoscopy is an invasive procedure that is expensive due to the need for anesthesia,” says Andrew Meltzers, a professor at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. But the causal capsule that can be controlled by magnetic force can identify digestive system problems such as ulcers or stomach cancer.
The potential benefits of this capsule are great due to the presence of a camera and detection of inflammations such as bleeding and wounds. This capsule is able to send the captured images outside its range. According to Ibne, the researchers of the capsule in question do not have any danger for patients and will be decomposed inside the body.
