According to the Mehr news agency, citing the Iran Science Foundation, Palestine and its issues have a long-standing and historical link with the cultural and religious life of Muslims and are tied to major issues and international policies in the world. The historical antiquity of this land and its role in the social and political developments of the Islamic world along with the territorial sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the one hand, the emergence of wide-ranging conflicts between Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam) along with geopolitical confrontations in this region and the occupation of its lands by Israel on the other hand. Therefore, it has caused Palestine to always be in the focus of researchers’ attention.
With the intensification of the Palestinian issue and the Gaza crisis on October 7, 2023, and the occurrence of human tragedies in the occupied territories and the encroachment of the usurping Israeli regime on the lands of the West Bank, numerous historical, political, legal, artistic, psychological and generally social questions were formed in the field of Palestinian studies. Its reflection cast a shadow on global politics, and at the same time, there are many questions about Palestine that need to be answered by scientific centers and academic circles.
Based on this, Iran Science Foundation intends to support scientific research in the form of research projects, doctoral and postdoctoral theses in order to explain and analyze the various aspects of this wide-ranging and important issue in line with the following axes.
Priority areas
The proposed axes of the researches are as follows:
A) History and political geography and historical anthropology of Palestine
b) Palestine’s ancient and civilizational heritage
c) Environment, climate and the Palestinian issue
t) The Palestinian issue from the perspective of political science and international relations and law
d) Palestine from the point of view of demography and social psychological studies and sociology (including the issue of immigrants and refugees)
c) Representation of the Palestinian issue in literature and art
c) Representation of the Palestinian issue in mainstream media and social media
h) Palestine in the field of art, literature and performing arts, architecture and urban planning
k) Palestine and economic and cultural-social futurism from a local, regional and world perspective
d) Investigating Iran’s foreign policy on the Palestinian issue with historical and futuristic approaches
z) Evaluating the policies and performance of international institutions as well as different countries, including the countries of the Islamic world, the region, Europe, America, etc., in the Palestinian issue.
Qualified
This call supports research projects, post-doctoral projects and doctoral theses.

Expected outputs
In this call, in addition to scientific publications including articles in prestigious international and domestic journals, the authoring of books and articles related to the field of research in international languages such as Arabic, English, etc. will receive special support.

Support amount
The support ceiling considered for support formats is as follows:
* Research project: 350 million Tomans
* Doctoral dissertation: 110 million Tomans
* Post-doctoral plan: equivalent to 100% of the first assistant professor’s salary
