John Hopfield was born in 1933 in America and is famous for his research on neural networks in 1982. This model is now known as the Hopefield network. Interestingly, his parents were also physicists. He has won numerous awards. Hopfield won the Dirac Medal from ICPT in 2001. He also won the Oliver Buckley Award from the American Physical Society and the Einstein World Science Award in 2005.
Geoffrey Hinton, a 76-year-old English-Canadian born in 1947, is a computer researcher and cognitive psychologist. His most important activity is research on artificial neural networks, which earned him the title of “Godfather of Artificial Intelligence”. He worked at Google and the University of Toronto from 2013 to 2023.
He resigned from his job at Google in May 2023 due to concerns about the dangers of artificial intelligence. In 2001, he won the Rommelhardt Award. He also won the Dixon Award in 2021.
