Japanese researchers have identified a protein that can be effective in preventing aging. This protein has the potential to prevent aging by taking care of two organelles, mitochondria and lysosome.
According to Tekna technology news service, scientists from Osaka University in Japan have identified a type of protein called HKDC1 that can play an important role in preventing cell aging. This protein does its work by taking care of two organelles, mitochondria and lysosome. According to published reports, this protein can become more active when the cell is stressed, especially mitochondria and lysosomes. Another protein called TFEB has also been identified, which according to the evidence obtained improves the function of two specific organelles.
Mitochondria are protected from damage through a process called mitophagy, in which damaged organelles are destroyed. There are different ways to do this, and the use of proteins named PINK1 and Parkin is one of these methods.
Shuhei Nakamura, one of the researchers of this research, says: There are proteins called lysosomes that interact with mitochondria. On the other hand, the HKDC1 protein is responsible for this interaction. Therefore, this protein will be needed for the interaction of mitochondria and lysosome and repair of lysosome. The function of this protein in the domains of two specific organelles will prevent cell aging and preserve the structural integrity of these vital organelles.
