An English company has used human excrement for jet fuel. This jet fuel can be made as a completely non-fossil fuel from human waste with permanent availability.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, the English company Firefly Green Fuels, in cooperation with Cranfield University experts, tried to develop a fuel that contains up to 90% less carbon than current fuels. Tests conducted on the new fuel show that the development of the new product is similar to that of standard jet fuel.
Currently, the company has used sewage companies in the UK to produce fuel. The process of developing this fuel, called hydrothermal liquefaction, is a process in which liquid waste is converted into sludge or crude oil. According to the company's claim, the carbon intensity in this process is about 7.97 grams of carbon dioxide per megajoule. While in current jet fuel production, the recorded carbon intensity is between 85 and 95 grams of carbon dioxide per megajoule.
According to this company, organic materials need years or even millions of years to convert into fossil fuels. While using this company's initiative, human waste can be turned into fuel in just a few days. Achieving carbon-neutral production is currently a long-term goal set in the aviation industry, and many leaders in Europe and the United States have made plans to achieve it.
