Japan plans to send an astronaut to the moon on NASA's Artemis mission.
According to Tekna technology news service, the Japan Space Agency and the United States have held talks with each other to include a Japanese astronaut in the future Artemis mission. In this mission, American astronauts will reach the surface of the moon by 2025. Earlier, the Vice President of the United States announced the international nature of this mission and said that it is possible for a non-American to accompany the NASA astronauts.
Reports published by Japanese news agencies show that Japanese Minister Fumio Shikida has confirmed the cooperation of these two countries in a strategic meeting for space development and speeding up negotiations. The sending of a Japanese astronaut by these two countries has not been confirmed, but considering the contributions these two countries have had in space exploration, it is likely that a Japanese astronaut will accompany the American astronauts in this mission.
These two space agencies have cooperated with each other in the past. Also, Japan plans to cooperate with the US space agency in future projects of NASA, such as the construction of the moon gate. NASA's Artemis 2 mission will carry four astronauts from the United States and Canada along with the Orion spacecraft.
