Researchers have developed a type of virtual reality glasses for mice that can monitor their brains while escaping from predators.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, researchers have been using virtual reality settings to study the brains of rats in the laboratory for a long time. This work was done in the past by placing flat screens around these mice, which was associated with many limitations to simulate a real environment. Now, researchers at Northwestern University have developed a small virtual reality headset to be placed around mice that can create a simulated environment for the mice and map their brains during this activity.
These glasses called IMRSIV are like a virtual reality headset, which instead of being placed on the mice's heads, is placed on a treadmill and will surround the entire space in front of the mice while running.
John Issa, the researcher of this research and the author of this study, says: In this customized holder for glasses, the entire screen and its lenses will surround the mouse. In this study, the behavior of mice and their reaction is not like a learned behavior. By using this method, in addition to the physical and external reactions of mice, their nervous activities will also be recorded.
