Due to the problem created in the heat shield of Urain spacecraft, the mission of launching a manned spacecraft around the moon or Artemis 2 in 2024 may not be carried out.
According to Tekna’s technology and technology news service, NASA is investigating the performance of the Urine spacecraft’s heat shield, and it may take a few more months to fix the problems. Jim Frey, vice president of exploration systems design at the space agency, announced in a recent meeting about Artemis 2 that the manned lunar mission will launch as planned late next year. Of course, NASA is carrying out this mission while making sure of solving the Urain problem and making the necessary changes.
Last year, at the same time as this spacecraft landed in the sea, NASA managers announced that the heat shield on this spacecraft had eroded more than expected when it re-entered the atmosphere. Of course, at that time, NASA managers announced that this erosion will not cause any danger to the spacecraft. Because there is a significant amount of additional erosive material in this heat shield. NASA’s spacecraft continues to work on heat shields after Artemis 1.
NASA and its contractors plan to process all the various elements of the Artemis 2 mission, including the Urine spacecraft, and keep it on track for late 2024. Frey stated that there is currently no reason to stop the mission, but if the problems are not resolved, the program may be stopped.
