Scientists managed to make a map of the human brain, which is considered as a big atlas of the whole brain. This map provides a three-dimensional image of the brain with an unprecedented separation of the brains of humans and non-human primates.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, the brain map prepared by scientists accurately shows the position and function of more than 3000 types of cells in the adult human brain. In this map, which was the continuation of the brain cell census project in 2017 and the creation of a map of the rat brain, it was also used for larger brains, i.e. humans.
According to researchers, the human brain is much more complex than they thought and they have been able to identify 3,300 types of cells in it so far. According to them, the number of these cells will probably increase with the release of new maps and the separations done. For example, by preparing an atlas from the brain of mice, 5000 types of cells were identified in the brain of this animal.
In this research, it was found that although the majority of neuroscience studies are focused on the outer regions of the brain, many cellular complexities are also located in the evolutionary structure and in the depths of the brain. Santiago Ramon Cajal, the father of modern neuroscience, was also present in the preparation of this map, who previously tried to prepare a guide and a map of the human brain by observing the tissue of the human brain.
