NASA’s ambitious mission to destroy Bennu asteroid

According to scientists, Bennu asteroid, which is the size of the Empabar building, can be considered a threat to the earth. Therefore, NASA has decided to destroy this asteroid during an ambitious mission.

According to Tekna technology and technology news service, according to astronomers who have been monitoring this asteroid for a long time, it is possible that Bennu asteroid will hit the earth on September 24, 2182. In case of this collision, a crater with a width of 10 km will be created and destructive waves will be created up to a radius of 1000 km.

NASA sent the Osiris Rex spacecraft into space about 7 years ago with the aim of investigating this asteroid. While taking samples of this asteroid, this spacecraft has checked its behavior and possible threat. Now, at the end of this spacecraft’s mission, the samples collected in a capsule are supposed to enter the Earth’s atmosphere on September 24. The landing place of this capsule is also the training base of the US Ministry of Defense.

According to NASA, the main purpose of this study and the destruction of Bennu asteroid is to protect the earth. Also, a new scientific opportunity will be given to scientists. Also, the material collected from this asteroid can reveal secrets about the formation of the solar system. Also, by examining and evaluating these samples, it is possible to obtain information about the origin of life on earth.
