Until December 31, 2023, international students can complete their studies online
On September 1, Immigration Canada (IRCC) announced that it was extending distance learning measures that had been in place during the Covid-19 pandemic. Under this interim public policy, those studying online and by distance will continue to be eligible for a post-graduate work permit (PGWP).
Until December 31, 2023, students who completed less than 50% of their education outside Canada will be eligible for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).
- Before the pandemic, all international students had to spend at least 50% of their studies in Canada, and time spent studying online outside of Canada did not count toward work authorization after graduation.
Due to travel restrictions during the pandemic, the Immigration Department removed the restriction on online education.
