The acceptance rate of applications for spouse temporary residence visas is 90%
Spouses and dependents of Canadians or permanent residents outside of Canada can join their families in Canada. Of course, until the application for permanent residence of these people has been approved or they have not received a work or study permit, they are not eligible to work or study in Canada, so they need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to enter.
Applicants who have previously applied for Canadian permanent residency through spousal sponsorship can now come to Canada while they wait for their application to be processed (instead of remaining in their home country pending a decision by the Immigration Department).
On May 26, the Immigration Service Standards were announced by Immigration Minister Sean Fraser. He announced that the acceptance rate of temporary residence visa for spouse applicants is more than 90%.
