New ways to get Canadian permanent residence through Express Entry 2026

Federal government Canada Officially announced that from 2026 some new job categories in the system Express Entry It prioritizes selection for permanent residence. At the same time, the minimum work experience required for all job categories has been increased from 6 months to one year.

These changes were made on February 18, 2026 by the Minister of Immigration. Lena Metlege Diabwas announced in Toronto and is part of the government’s new approach to focus on attracting skilled Canadian workforce.

According to the new regulations, from 2026 the minimum work experience required has increased from six months to one year. This history must have been obtained in the last three years, but there is no requirement for it to be continuous and it can be calculated non-continuously.
