The “Federal Economic Priorities” category allocates new admission to volunteers who have “specific skills, education and language ability” and can meet Canadian labor market needs and population goals. These categories are defined every year.

Since 2023, the Express Entry system has made choices that allow the IRCC to issue invitations to specific groups of volunteers. These choices are based on the priorities of the federal government’s labor and population market.

Category -based choices usually have lower CRS scores, as they are dedicated to smaller groups of volunteers. The federal government has announced that in 2025 the priorities of this category will include health care, technical jobs and French language mastery.

In 2024, agricultural and food industry, transportation and STEM jobs were also priorities; But in the level of level 2025, these groups are not included in the federal economic priorities.
