The latest data from Immigration Canada (IRCC) shows that in the first four months of this year, more people were granted permanent residence through the Startup Visa (SUV) immigration program than in the same period last year.
During the first third of this year, Canada welcomed 195 new permanent residents through the start-up visa program; This amount is 8.3% more than the 180 people who entered Canada during the first four months of 2022.
At the current rate of new arrivals through the Startup Visa program, 585 new permanent immigrants could enter Canada through the end of this year if current immigration levels continue.
This level is roughly comparable to the 575 new permanent residents who settled in Canada through the same program last year.
However, as overall immigration to Canada fell by 34.6% in April from the previous month, the number of new permanent residents arriving through the start-up visa program also fell that month.
