What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is the application management system for three popular Canadian immigration programs, namely the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trade Program. Applicants of the provincial selection program in the express entry system are eligible for at least one of these programs.
Express Entry uses the Comprehensive Ranking System, or CRS, to rank applicants’ files, and applicants with the highest scores receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and can then apply for permanent residence.
After the applicant’s application, the Canadian immigration officer reviews the application and makes a decision. The officer will ask for biometrics and may arrange an interview or ask for additional documents.
If the application is approved, the Immigration Department will issue a COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence). Approved permanent residence applicants can follow the procedures of admission in the country.
