All applicants for permanent residence must provide biometrics
On June 14, 2023, the Immigration Service of Canada (IRCC) dropped its general policy of exempting some applicants for permanent residency from taking biometrics. This general policy included applicants who had previously applied for temporary residence and provided biometrics. This exemption was applied during the Corona period and with the continuation of interruptions related to visa services.
Therefore, applications for permanent residence submitted on or after June 14, 2023 are now required to provide biometrics in accordance with normal procedures; Except in cases where the immigration office has exempted them from providing biometrics.
Biometric information is usually required for those who want to obtain a Canadian visitor visa, work visa and work permit or study permit. Of course, this biometric information is also very important for people who are in refugee status or applying for permanent residence in Canada.
