It is very important to be familiar with the changes in the selection of the Express Entry system before November 16, because from November 16, 2022, applicants will face fundamental changes in the classification of Canadian jobs that will have a direct impact on the selection of the Express Entry system.
All applicants who are currently eligible to apply through Express Entry and have a valid profile, if they are not selected by November 16, will also be affected by these changes. Currently, Express Entry selection is based on the job classification list of 2016, but from November 16, 2022, the new job classification using Knock 2021 will be used.
The comparison table below shows the classification difference between 2016 and 2021.
The following table shows how NOC 2016 skill types compare to TEER categories.
NOC 2016 | NOC 2021 |
Skill Type 0 | TEER 0 |
Skill Level A | TEER 1 |
Skill Level B | TEER 2 |
Skill Level B | TEER 3 |
Skill Level C | TEER 4 |
Skill Level D | TEER 5 |
Therefore, if you intend to create a profile before November 16, or if you have a profile but have not been selected yet, you should update your profile.
These applicants must first find their profession in the 2021 classification system and enter their new job number, which is a 5-digit number, in their profile.
After November 16, the Express Entry system will only be able to accept 2021 job vacancies.
People who are selected before November 16 do not need to change their job when submitting their permanent residence application documents.
