Vancouver living wage in 2023 and all 19 provinces of British Columbia
Vancouver's new living wage in 2023, revealed by Living Wage for Families BC, shows a 6.6 per cent increase from $24.08 in 2022 to $25.68.
There is a difference of $8.93 between this living wage rate in Vancouver and the increased provincial general minimum wage on June 1, 2023.
According to research by the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives, one-third of two-parent families in Vancouver do not earn a living wage to make ends meet.
The living wage in Greater Victoria is $25.40 an hour, while in Kelowna it is now $24.60 an hour.
These results follow the release of the latest Labor Force Survey by Statistics Canada, which shows that one in three Canadian households are facing financial difficulties.
