Canada's Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Mark Miller announced on Thursday the introduction of fundamental changes in the regulations related to the issuance of study permits for international students (student visas).
He also changed some regulations for those foreign students who are currently studying in this country (including the right to work).
According to his announcement, from January 1, 2024, the figure assessed as the minimum cost of living for student visa applicants will increase to $20,635.
The government's goal of implementing these changes is to ensure the financial readiness of students to live in Canada, especially in facing the challenge of financing housing costs.
