Quebec will need 52 thousand engineers in the next 10 years

According to a study conducted by the Quebec Engineering Organization (OIQ), the province of Quebec will need more than 52,000 engineers in the next ten years. This study shows that the need for engineers in the province will increase by approximately 40%.

Sophie Lariviere Manta, head of Quebec’s engineering system, has emphasized that we should try to attract and train more than 52 thousand engineering students. The main source of providing these specialists is the current high school students and immigrants.

The estimates of the Quebec engineering system show that the shortage of manpower will become a big challenge for Quebec in the coming years, especially in sectors such as informatics (73%), chemistry (47%), and aerospace (30%).

With the increase in economic growth, the expansion of new scientific and economic prospects and the retirement of current engineers, this lack of specialized forces will be felt over time.
