Mark Miller, Canada‘s immigration minister, recently announced his plans to strengthen Canada’s foreign student program and distinguish genuine students from fraudsters.

As of December 1, 2023, Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) at the university level are required to approve Letter of Acceptance (LOA) Every applicant will be through the immigration office. The new measure ensures that study permits are issued only for valid acceptance letters.

The main purpose of this process is to prevent fraud in the acceptance letter and help international students to avoid similar problems.

The decision came after it was revealed earlier this year that some students’ acceptance letters were fake.
