IEC Canadian International Experience Program Categories
The Canadian International Experience Program has three different categories that you should choose one of them depending on your conditions and apply for it. These three programs are:
- Working holiday scheduleWorking Holiday Program)
- Young Professionals ProgramYoung Professionals)
- International Co-op ProgramInternational Co-op)
In the following, while providing necessary explanations and details about each of these three categories, the required conditions of each of them have been examined.
1. Working holiday schedule
The first Canadian International Experience Program category we’ll look at is Working holiday scheduleWorking Holiday Program) Is. This category is suitable for eligible young people who do not have a Canadian job offer or who want to work for more than one employer during their stay in Canada.
If you qualify for this category, you will receive an open work permit that allows you to work for one or more employers. This category is suitable for those young people who want to travel around Canada, explore the country and use the money they earn in Canada to pay for their stay in this country.
2. Young professionals program
Young Professionals ProgramYoung Professionals) It is intended for those people who have a job offer from a Canadian employer that can help their professional development. Applicants who qualify for the young professionals program will receive a work permit that is unique to an employer.
That is, they cannot work for another employer and must work only for the same employer in one place during their stay in Canada. Applicants for the young professionals program must meet a number of other requirements as follows:
- You must have a job offer in one of the NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations (formerly known as Skill Level 0, A, and B occupations).
- Your job offer must include salary and the salary amount must be equal to or more than the minimum wage rate set in the province where you live and work.
- During your stay in Canada, you must only work for the employer who offered you a job and in a single location.
3. International co-op program
This category, called the International Co-op program, is for students enrolled in a university or college outside of Canada who need to complete an internship or work experience to obtain their degree, diploma or certificate. Applicants must have an internship or co-op job offer from a Canadian employer and receive an employer-specific work permit to be eligible for this program. Other requirements of this program are:
- You must be enrolled in a tertiary institution outside of Canada.
- Your internship job offer should match your field of study.
- Your internship in Canada must complement your study abroad.
- Your internship can be unpaid or paid depending on the laws and regulations of the province where you are doing your internship.
- You must work for the same employer at a fixed place of employment throughout your stay in Canada.
- Participants in this program must arrange co-op appointments with Canadian employers before applying.
