According to RCO News Agency, citing Anatolia News Agency, 30 people lost their lives due to heavy rain in the eastern regions of Brazil.
The local authorities of Minas Gerais state have also reported the disappearance of 40 people.
Efforts to find the missing persons are ongoing.
The governor of this state, in a conversation with the media, emphasized the dire situation in the region and stated: We are witnessing a very dire situation. It rained very heavily last night and in just a few hours almost a month’s worth of rain fell. Thousands of people in the region have been deprived of electricity and water services. Some schools have been turned into temporary centers to house the evacuees, and the first trucks carrying humanitarian aid have been launched.
Also, Luis Lula da Silva, the president of Brazil, in his statements about the heavy rains in the state of Minas Gerais, announced that the government is ready to deal with the consequences of this incident.
