According to the Mehr news agency, citing the website of the online newspaper Raei Alyoum, the British police announced that “Prince Andrew”, now known as “Andrew Mountbatten Windsor”, was released hours after he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Meanwhile, the “Thames Valley” police announced that the 60-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested on Thursday morning at his home in the east of England and was released after about 11 hours in the evening of the same day.
He was seen in a car while leaving the detention center.
According to the police, Andrew’s release was “under investigation”; This means that no charges have been brought against him yet, and at the same time, he has not been acquitted either.
The British police also announced that the search of his home has ended, but the search continues in another property.
This arrest was made in the framework of the investigation related to his connections with “Jeffrey Epstein”, a billionaire and sex offender.
“Charles III”, the King of England, also announced in a rare statement about his brother’s arrest: “The law must take its course and it is not appropriate to comment further until the proceedings continue.”
This event is the first time in the last four centuries that a senior member of the British royal family is arrested; An event that, according to observers, is a sign of the decline of traditional consideration towards the institution of monarchy in recent years.
According to media reports, “Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor” (Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor), the brother of Charles III, King of England, was arrested on Thursday on charges of misconduct.
The former prince was stripped of his royal title last fall after his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was revealed.
He, who was previously known as “Prince Andrew”, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
