According to the Mehr news agency, quoted by Russia Eliom, the head of the state-owned company Rosatom of Russia emphasized that the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran will continue to be a priority for this company and it will definitely implement this project sooner or later.
According to this report, “Alexei Likhachev” added in an interview with reporters: “In any case, the Bushehr power plant and its second and third reactors will remain among the priorities of Rosatom.” We will do our best to implement this project and despite all the difficulties we are currently facing, we will finally complete this project successfully.
The Russian nuclear energy company “Rosatom” previously reported that Russia and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the construction of small nuclear power plants in Iran.
After signing in January 2025, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran entered into force last October. This agreement is valid for twenty years and sets a broader institutional framework for bilateral cooperation.
Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, previously announced an agreement with Russia to build eight more nuclear reactors in Iran, four of which will be in the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
