According to RCO News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated in an exclusive interview with Al-Arabiya: Iran has the right to peaceful enrichment of uranium.
He expressed his confidence that if the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency resume their activities, Tehran will cooperate with them.
Lavrov said that Iran is ready to reduce the level of uranium enrichment to the level required for peaceful purposes.
The 12-day war against Iran has had bad consequences
The Russian Foreign Minister also pointed to the 12-day aggression of the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran and said that this attack had negative consequences.
He added that Iran has always declared its adherence to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and that Tel Aviv and Washington’s attack on nuclear facilities was a dangerous action.
At the same time, the Russian Foreign Minister announced the close relationship between Moscow and Iran’s leaders.
Lavrov further expressed Russia’s concern about the policies of the United Nations, which were influenced by the approaches of European countries, and said that Europe tried to return the sanctions on Iran.
Arab countries oppose any escalation of tension in the region
He also noted that the Arab countries do not want any new escalation of tension (in the region).
Regarding the relations between Moscow and Riyadh, Lavrov also said that due to the diplomatic relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia, which is 100 years old, Saudi Arabia is a strategic partner for Russia in the Middle East.
He added that the OPEC+ alliance plays a responsible role in the global energy market and Moscow is satisfied with the level of bilateral cooperation with Riyadh.
The Russian Foreign Minister also said that Moscow values its relations with Arab countries and talks with the Arab world about key international issues.
The issue of Palestine
Regarding the issue of Palestine, Lavrov also emphasized the necessity of Palestinian unity and said that Russia has already proposed this idea.
He clarified that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s opposition to the creation of a Palestinian state is not in the interest of Israel’s security.
The Russian Foreign Minister also stated that the Israeli army’s statement that “all the people of Gaza are terrorists” is unacceptable.
Lavrov said that the Palestinians and the Arab countries asked Russia not to obstruct the issuance of the “Peace Council” resolution, and for this reason, Moscow and China responded to the request of the Arab countries and abstained from voting on this resolution.
He considered the participation of the Palestinian people as the determining factor for the success of any peace plan and added that Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Moscow is ready to allocate one billion dollars for the reconstruction of Palestine.
In the end, the Russian Foreign Minister warned against the increase in tensions in the West Bank and said that the situation in this region is intensifying and there is a risk of the situation getting out of control.
