Zakharova: The West does not want peace between Russia and Ukraine – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr news agency, quoted by Rianavosti, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said about the Ukraine negotiations in Geneva: Russia has repeatedly proved that it wants peace, but the other side has repeatedly stated under various pretexts that negotiations are not necessary.
He said: The West is doing its best to prevent peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation in the Geneva negotiations, said: “The negotiations were difficult, but professional and professional.” The next round of negotiations will be held soon.
The third round of the Ukrainian peace talks was held in Geneva, the capital of Switzerland, on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the presence of representatives from Russia, Ukraine and the United States.
Despite holding several rounds of negotiations, the war between Russia and Ukraine continues. Territorial issues are still the most important obstacle to the conclusion of negotiations between the two sides.
Russia and Ukraine are trying to take the initiative in the battlefield as well as in the negotiation field by maintaining and developing the areas under their control.
Earlier, Matthew Whittaker, the permanent representative of the US in the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO), said: Washington expects the issue of territorial disputes to be determined in the coming days and weeks.
He said that the participants in the process of negotiations to resolve the crisis in Ukraine are currently working on four final documents. A 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security guarantees, specific US security guarantees, as well as a plan for post-peace economic growth and prosperity.
