US arms orders exceeded 900 billion dollars
The US Secretary of State and the US Secretary of War wrote in an article that US arms orders have exceeded 900 billion dollars, but their country’s allies and partners must wait for the delivery of these weapons.
According to Isna, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegst wrote in this article for the USA Today newspaper: “US defense sales remain at their highest level with 43 percent of the global market share, and more than 16,000 current orders total more than $900 billion.”
According to Tass News agency, the US secretaries of war and state also noted that “allies and partners willing to provide advance payments will have to wait patiently, or in other words, several years, for Washington to produce enough systems to exceed its own needs and begin to meet their needs.”
Meanwhile, because of the long timelines, US allies are tempted “to look for other suppliers who claim to be able to deliver the weapons they need more quickly, even if the products are of lower quality.”
The editorial states that the United States was forced to find a new way to manage arms sales after its previous strategy failed.
The aim of this new strategy is to “shorten waiting times and reduce costs”. According to Rubio and Hegst, “This strategy will revitalize America’s defense industrial base by growing and increasing production capacity, and will mean freeing up hundreds of billions of dollars in additional investment for production lines.”
