Zelensky: I am under pressure from Trump
Ukraine’s president said he was being “slightly pressured” by the US president and that Washington was insisting on territorial concessions from Kiev while not making such demands from Moscow.
According to Isna, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a speech at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday evening, in response to the question of whether he is under pressure from US President Donald Trump, said: “Yes, I am a little bit under pressure from President Trump.”
According to CNN News media, in his speech, the President of Ukraine called for the implementation of “real security guarantees” before the end of the war and claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot give up the idea of war.” If he survives another 10 years, the war could return or spread.”
Expressing confidence that the war in Ukraine can end with “dignity and honor”, Zelensky said: “The United States, which is the mediator of the negotiations between the two sides, often asks what concessions Ukraine can give, but it does not ask this from Russia.”
He also emphasized that he hopes the next round of talks to be held in Geneva next week will be “fundamental”.
“If the United States pushes for it, Ukraine will need two months of ceasefire to prepare, and then we will go to the polls,” Volodymyr Zelenskiy said, referring to the possibility of new presidential elections in Ukraine proposed by the United States.
Zelenskiy, whose country’s forces have repeatedly violated any ceasefire with Russia, claimed: “Not even a Ukrainian power plant was spared from the damage of Russian attacks. “In just one night of this week, Russia fired 24 ballistic missiles and more than 200 drones towards Ukraine.”
“Ukraine will support the peace process and hopes that the United States will support security guarantees for its country,” the Ukrainian president said about the plan for the coming months. I look forward to further European involvement in this process, and progress towards EU membership is also a priority.”
