A large galaxy without dark matter has challenged our understanding of the evolution of the universe and the related theory.
Dark matter is now a very large part of the universe around us. The NGC galaxy, which is located in the Bursaush cluster, is about 240 million light-years away from Earth. This galaxy is the first discovered galaxy that does not have dark matter despite masses such as stars, planets, dust and gas.
Sebastian Cameron, a researcher from the University of Laguna, and the head of the research on this galaxy says: The identification of this galaxy has caused a discrepancy with the accepted cosmic models so far. Dark matter is invisible because it does not interact with light. Its existence can be inferred through its interactions. The recent fact made scientists propose the theory of the evolution of galaxies. In this theory, it is stated that large galaxies are wrapped in dark matter, and this issue became an important hypothesis in the theory of galactic evolution.
Researchers expressed different theories about the absence of dark matter in this galaxy. One of the researchers of this study, Anofermatteau, says that it may have been destroyed by the activities of the galaxy cluster related to this galaxy and its gravitational interaction with the surrounding environment of dark matter around them.
Another idea says that this galaxy may have been left over from the merger of fragments of a pre-formed galaxy and its dark matter was ejected from the system.
