
According to the Mehr news agency, citing the Vice Preside for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, a scieific meeting was held to review the coury’s deep water exploration and exploitation plan focusing on the Sistan region, with the presence of Abdul Hassan Bahrami, head of the steering ceer for the developme of knowledge-based economy, Seyed Mohammad Mahdi Nourbakhsh, secretary of the water and environme technology developme staff, and a group of experts, scieific experts, water and environme activists, and represeatives of executive bodies.
This meeting was held with the aim of reviewing the actions taken, achievemes and challenges related to the exploitation of deep waters in the Sistan region and providing the basis for drafting an expert and specialized stateme to be preseed to the Islamic Council. During this meeting, the results of the studies conducted in the field of hydrogeology, hydrochemistry and isotopic studies of deep waters in the Sistan region were discussed and the necessity of a scieific, staged and evidence-based approach to this issue was emphasized.
In this meeting, issues such as the necessity of defining and revising the governance of deep waters, explaining the place of geology in the water governance system, the scope of scieific and research studies, and the need to accurately determine the role and responsibility of the executive bodies and assigning the executive steps to the respective ministries were discussed and discussed.
Abdul Hassan Bahrami, the head of the steering ceer of the knowledge-based economy developme headquarters of the presideial vice preside for science, technology and knowledge-based economy, in this meeting, referring to the high sensitivity of the issue of deep water, especially in dry and water-scarce areas of the coury, said: in the past years, hopes have been created among the people of dry areas, including Sistan and Baluchistan province, regarding this water source, and on the other hand, any move towards the extraction of deep water requires spending significa resources from Bait-ul-Mal. Therefore, the approach of the Scieific Vice Preside since the beginning of Hossein Afshin’s arrival, the Scieific Vice Preside, has been based on strengthening scieific studies, research and informed decision-making.
Emphasizing that the Scieific Vice-Chancellor does not have an executive mission in water extraction projects, he clarified: the role of this Vice-Chancellor is scieific and technological role-playing and helping to form rational decisions based on research results, and the implemeation of projects should be done within the framework of the duties of the executive bodies, including the Ministry of Energy and other releva ministries.
Bahrami added: In this regard, several study and research projects have been defined and started with the participation of scieific and research ceers inside and outside the coury that have poteial scieific capacities.
Referring to the outcome of the ieraction with the Islamic Council, the head of the steering ceer of the knowledge-based economy developme headquarters poied out that the main goal of these meetings is to achieve a road map and expert summary ceered on the scieific assista and with the consensus of elites and experts in this field, so that a rational stateme based on scieific consensus can be prepared and preseed before the official meeting in the parliame. He announced plans to hold several more expert meetings with the presence of critics, experts and represeatives of related institutions and commissions of the parliame and emphasized the necessity of synergistic views in the expert environme.
In the coinuation of this meeting, Seyyed Mohammad Mahdi Noorbakhsh, secretary of the water, energy and environme knowledge-based economy developme headquarters of the presideial vice preside for science, technology and knowledge-based economy, referring to the composition of those prese at the meeting, said that this meeting was held with the presence of university professors, experts in the field of underground water and geology, scieific advisors of the headquarters and represeatives of executive bodies, including the Majlis Research Ceer. He added: At the beginning of the meeting, a report on the latest achievemes of deep water studies, which was previously preseed in the supervisory committee of the Islamic Parliame, was given to the attendees.
Noorbakhsh stated that the main goal of this meeting is to compile a road map for completing and coinuing deep water studies based on the task of the Islamic Council and said that this road map will be compiled in the form of a brief and practical stateme or docume. According to him, the draft of this docume will be given to the experts before the next meeting and its finalization will be based on the opinions and views raised in these specialized meetings.
At the end of this meeting, the attendees emphasized the necessity of coinuing scieific dialogues, using the capacity of elites and executive bodies, and avoiding haste in making decisions about deep waters, and they considered drafting an expert stateme based on scieific consensus to be an importa step towards accurate and responsible decision-making in this area.
